Life Update! (School, Hiatus, Reading)

LIFE UPDATE! (1).png

Hello, hello! It’s been a while since the last time I posted anything. Over a month to be exact. And if I’m being completely honest, I haven’t been involved in the reading world since I last posted. Life has been busy, but I have had some time to collect my thoughts and get the motivation to post again.

Now, when most book bloggers go on a hiatus, it’s because they fell into a book slump. However, that isn’t how my absence started. In the past, I haven’t been having that regular “want” to read that most readers get. It felt more like I “needed” to read. And honestly, I enjoyed reading so much that I didn’t mind it at first. However, after some contemplation, I started asking myself if reading was actually right for me. Was this just a hobby that I would end up quitting? So, I ended up challenging myself to taking a break from reading.

Let me just tell you, taking away something really important is quite the experience. At first, I didn’t know what to do in my free time. But, after a few weeks, it started to feel more like myself again. It was just me without books. However, often times I would end up contemplating if I should pick up a book or not. And most times I ended up going back to my phone and spending hours scrolling through random YouTube videos. But, I’ve started to not like the idea of spending my free time watching the lives of other people.

So, here I am now. I haven’t picked up a book in over a month, but I feel like after getting back into blogging, things will change. I want to use my blog as motivation to read more. Knowing that I have only finished one book this year is very depressing. However, I know that with enough motivation, I can go back to reading every day! I cannot wait to get back to doing what I love!

So, you may also be thinking something along the lines of “What did you do while you were gone?” Well, school has been a big priority for me. I wrote my first semester exams, and have now started my second semester of my Sophomore year of high school. Although my current classes are quite challenging, I am enjoying all of the new information I am learning. Along with school, I have also been playing on my school’s junior varsity basketball team. I truly am not the greatest player, but games and practices add up for an amazing workout!

Besides that, my life has been pretty boring. However, I am hoping that reading will help make my free time more exciting. Before I wrap-up this post, I just wanted to thank all of you for sticking around during my hiatus. Somehow, this blog managed to reach 200 followers while I was gone, which is AMAZING! I cannot wait to get back to posting and talking about books with all of you!

Happy Reading,

A Little Update.

Hey book nerds! I am so sorry I have been super inactive recently. I’ve been trying to catch up on school work and study for exams. But to be completely honest, I miss writing on here, and reading 24/7 and even just sitting in classes and scrolling through my phone endlessly. School hits hard in exam (finals) season. But, here I am, sitting in class writing up a little life update because I cannot focus on my work.

  1. Dreaded School: If anyone dreads school the most in the whole world at the moment, it’s me. Next week I have my first exams and I have definitely not prepared myself for them. As I said above, I also have so many final projects and studying to get done. I hate how teachers enjoy watching us finish our work in record timing. It’s almost as if they want us to fail so they can teach us the whole class again. Ugh. I only have 3 full days of school left and 2 exams the week after. Let’s hope I survive. And you betcha I’ll be back on the second with a super long post for all of you.
  2. I’ve been spending all of my free time either studying, reading or watching YouTube. This past week has fully consisted of super late nights (1 am or 2 am) where I just can’t sleep. Then I’ll end up watching YouTube or reading until I fall asleep, and OH-MY-GOD it’s addicting. And then I’ll wake up at about 7 in the morning and look like the walking dead. But to let you all know, I have been reading while hiding in my little hole. I am currently reading Fallen by Lauren Kate and I am loving it! I absolutely love both Luce and Daniel and I don’t think I will ever dislike paranormal YA.
  3. Hamilton is my new love: I never really used to like Hamilton. I listened to a few of the popular songs every once in a while, but never really knew what all the rave around the musical was. But, the other night while I was studying, I decided to play the soundtrack in the background and became addicted. I ended up searching up everything there is to know about the musical and the characters! I am absolutely in love with everything there is to know about the American Revolution too. Soooo, I’m pretty sure I’m in a phase of learning all of the song lyrics. BUT JUST YOU WAIT!

So that’s it for today’s little (unedited) rant while I procrastinate working in class. yay. I plan to try to post on every second day until the second so, stay tuned for new posts! Don’t forget to press the like and share buttons, comment below and follow my blog!
