Snowy Book Recommendations!

“I love snow for the same reason I love Christmas: It brings people together while time stands still. Cozy couples lazily meandered the streets and children trudged sleds and chased snowballs. No one seemed to be in a rush to experience anything other than the glory of the day, with each other, whenever and however it happened.”

Happy Blogmas Day #2! I posted on my bookstagram account (that you can find on the right side of my blog) about snow coloured books. So I thought, what better thing to post then white book recommendations!

Winter is one of my favorite seasons. Not necessarily because of the weather, but more about the scenery. I love to watch the thick, detailed snowflakes slowly fall from the sky, blanketing the ground with white fluff; curling up and drinking a nice, warm cup of hot cocoa while reading a huge book. There’s nothing better than being able to stay nice and cozy in front of a fire while reading a nice book. Preferably, I like to read deep contemporaries, intense high fantasy or classics during the winter but, today I will be recommending some of my favorite white-spined books! White (or maybe a cream or grey) is the only colour that I can use to describe the winter season (not Christmas). You look out a window and there’s snow. Snow everywhere. So in honor of it, here are some snowy book recommendations!

Lux: Consequences by Jennifer L. Armentrout:

Consequences: Opal & Origin (Lux, #3-4)This is a bind-up of the third and fourth books in the lux series. I recommend everyone picks up this if they have previously read either the Lux: beginnings bind-up or both Obsidian and Onyx. Although most of my “white” recommendations have nothing t0 do with winter, this one definitely does. The first book in this book fully takes place in winter. And the cover just so happens to be white and sparkly!

“Opal
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different…and I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Origin
Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?”

Ink by Amanda Sun:

Ink (Paper Gods, #1)Quite the unpopular choice of mine but I truly think that everyone should read this book! 1) the cover is super eye-pleasing, and is made out of a watercolour paper material. 2) It is based off of Japanese mythology, which isn’t found too often in YA fiction. And 3) it is simply an amazing novel!

“On the heels of a family tragedy, the last thing Katie Greene wants to do is move halfway across the world. Stuck with her aunt in Shizuoka, Japan, Katie feels lost. Alone. She doesn’t know the language, she can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, and she can’t seem to get the hang of taking her shoes off whenever she enters a building.

Then there’s gorgeous but aloof Tomohiro, star of the school’s kendo team. How did he really get the scar on his arm? Katie isn’t prepared for the answer. But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. If the wrong people notice, they’ll both be targets.

Katie never wanted to move to Japan—now she may not make it out of the country alive.”

Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry:

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)If I do remember correctly, I did mention that I love reading deep contemporaries in the winter. Well, this has actually been one of my favorite reads of the year! Although the subject of the book is very deep, it’s very inspiring to read about Echo and Noah’s journey throughout their troublesome senior year.

“So wrong for each other…and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again..”

Wattpad Recommendations || August 16

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! For today’s post, I am going to be recommending some of my favorite books on Wattpad. For those who didn’t know, Wattpad is a community (app/website) where writers around the world post their works. Whether you’re a fan of cliché romance novels, fanfiction or even your everyday paranormal book, you will find something you like on Wattpad! The really cool thing about Wattpad is the fact that the writers can talk to fans of their books. So, if you haven’t already started using Wattpad, I think now is the right time!

I’m just going to get this out now, I don’t read fanfiction. So if you were looking for fanfiction recommendations, this is the wrong place for you. But, I will say that all of these books listed below are definitely worthy of being published!

So lets get started with the basic novel that everyone has read off of there:

After by Anna Todd (imaginator1D on Wattpad)

IMG_4424[1]Synopsis: Tessa Young is an 18 year old college student with a simple life, excellent grades, and a sweet boyfriend. She always has things planned out ahead of time, until she meets a rude boy named Harry, with too many tattoos and piercings who shatters her plans.

This book is definitely more of a mature read (lots of sexual content) but, that doesn’t stop any of the twelve year olds on Wattpad from reading the book. Yes, I did say above that I didn’t read fanfiction…. with the exception of this. So all of you One Direction fanatics, go read this book. Well, at least if you’re old enough to. I would suggest reading this I you are 16+.

Anna Todd’s debut Wattpad novel blew up all over the app. It’s probably the biggest book on there with over 390 million reads. Although the writing isn’t as good as what you’d find in a book from your local bookstore, it is extremely addicting. The topic of girls going into college with a sardonic jerk as the main boy attracts the Wattpad audience. And as big of a success as this was on the app, it is also now a published New Adult book.

Roommates by Kimmy Hers (XthatONEchicX on Wattpad)

roommatesSynopsis: A 19 year old girl named Nichole, gets accepted into Westcott University. She will meet plenty of new people, but unfortunately for her, she will be stuck with a roommate that is a cocky, yet hot, perverted jerk. Will he change for her when she tells him about her past? Follow their love-hate journey and hope for the best. 1 girl, 1 boy, 1 room, 1 undeniable love

Okay yes, this does sound like one of those cheesy romance novels I was talking about before. But, trust me, it isn’t. Kimmy’s writing is so amazing! Her characters are too but, she is basically a creative mastermind.

Nichole and the somewhat perverted jerk in this novel (he’s really hot) are basically meant to be. There are also moments in this book where you will cry, laugh and smile bigger than possible, alike a good YA contemporary. So be sure to read this and then check out the rest of Kimmy’s books: The Martinez Brothers, Stepbrother and It’s a Deal.

Will I Always Be: Just a Friend by Ceri from ReadWriteLoveIt

JAFSynopsis: Ashton Thompson is everything you’d want in a boyfriend. He’s funny, caring, childish at times, loving, romantic… oh and he’s drool worthy gorgeous. It’s just a shame he’s my best friend… NOT my boyfriend. Being in love with your best friend SUCKS. Watching him kiss other girls HURTS. Acting like he means nothing more than just a friend KILLS.

Lydia and Ashton have been best friends from the very beginning. They tell each other everything and know everything about one another. Well so Ashton thought… Lydia has been secretly in love with her best friend for as long as she can remember. However, she keeps it to herself, not wanting to ruin their close friendship. Now they’re both 18, things begin to change after a couple of ‘moments’ between the pair…. will their friendship stand the test? And will Lydia only ever be to Ashton… Just a Friend?

**The cover picture has changed since I added this to my photos**

This is probably my all time favorite Wattpad novel. I just love everything about it! The characters, the plot and even the writing in general. Ceri does such an amazing job of making Ashton and Lydia feel like real world people. And once you figure out Lydia’s nickname, please go and attempt to say it with a british accent. It makes me laugh everytime!

Most likely, some of you have gone through the same situation that Lydia goes through in the book. It’s always nice to have some sort of similarity with the main character! And now that the whole first book is finished, you can fully enjoy this one and automatically jump back into this adventure! The sequel, Three Thousand Miles Apart, is slowly being uploaded.

The Hoodie Girl by yuenwrites

The Hoodie Girl | Wattys 2016 Synopsis: “We put on a fake smile to hide the pain, yet we wish someone would look closely enough and see how broken we really are inside.”

Socially awkward is a phrase that she’d use to describe herself.

Meet Wren Martin. She blocks off herself to the world, hiding behind her favorite hoodie, believing that if she does this, her agonizing pain will never resurface – that tears and nightmares will be a thing of the past.

When she arrives at her over-the-top high school, however, certain circumstances lead to her meeting the school’s most popular and notorious boy, Asher Reed, who has his mind set to change everything she stands for, and save her along the way.

This book makes me inexplicably speechless. I have no words to explain how powerful Yuen’s words are, how inspired I become when I read this novel! Yuen writes about such an intense subject and does it beautifully! Wren and Asher’s story is so inspiring and a must read for every one!

Hideaway by Cupcake2027

Hideaway #Wattys2016**I couldn’t get the full synopsis for this novel**

This story isn’t totally like your everyday contemporary novel. the author sets up the novel so that characters kind of portray a role from Cinderella. But really, it isn’t a Cinderella retelling at all! This novel follows the life of Skyler as she tries to be the ugly fat daughter that her step-mother wants her to be. But, everything changes paths when the upcoming ball comes closer and closer. Skyler finds a way to change. And forever, instead of being mocked by her family, she can mock them.

It’s way better than my crappy attempt to make a summary sounds! Trust me.

So, those are just a few of my favorite Wattpad novels that I think all of you should read! if you want to follow me on there my username is @alainabagan!

Until next time, Happy Reading
