Bookalicious BOTM: September

Hey everyone! We had such a fun month in August with Bookalicious, and I am so excited to reveal the September BOTM with you today! We read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, and I ended up really enjoying it. It was great fantasy book to spend reading during a sunny, summer day. Since me and Emily (Who Gave The Write) are going to be in school during September, we wanted to pick a book that wasn’t as heavy of a read as Six of Crows.

Before I get into the BOTM reveal, I just wanted to add a few things to this post. First of all, if you haven’t joined Bookalicious yet, you can CLICK HERE. Secondly, if you happened to have read Six of Crows during August, you can CLICK HERE to go to our monthly discussion for the book.

Now onto September’s BOTM! We ended up picking…

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken:

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something frightening enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that got her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that had killed most of America’s children, but she and the others emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they could not control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones. When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. She is on the run, desperate to find the only safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who have escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents. When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at having a life worth living.

Me and Emily just so happened to both own un-read copies of this book, and thought that it would be a great book to read for Bookalicious. It is a slightly older book, but I am hoping there are still a few of you who haven’t read it yet! Since this book has been out for a few year, it is already released in paperback and has been translated into numerous languages. So, all of you bargain shoppers and international readers, this book is perfect for you!

That is all for today! Me and Emily are really hoping that some of you will be able to join us this month for Bookalicious! If you plan on joining us, be sure to leave a comment letting me know! Don’t forget to like this post and follow my blog to stay up to date with all of my future posts!

Happy Reading,

Bookalicious BOTM: August

Hey Book Nerds! As most of you may know, me and Emily over at Who Gave The Write started a book club last month. It was pretty successful and we had a blast with The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. So, we have decided to continue the book club and I’m going to be announcing August’s book today! I know, we are already four days into the month but, it’s better late than never!

If you are interested in learning more about Bookalicious, you can CLICK HERE to be taken to the information page. Now, onto August’s book!

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:

Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)

Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)

Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)

Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.

Yep, we are going to be reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. This is actually going to be my second time reading this book, but since I audiobooked a great majority of it, I agreed to do it for August! I tend to miss parts of books when I audiobook them, so I am so excited to reread this later this month!

And from what I know, this book was recently released in paperback. So, if you have a “book buying budget,” this one will be perfect! I am so ready to cozy up this August with my “No Mourners, No Funerals” mug and I really hope that some of your will be able to join us!

That’s all for today! If you are interested in joining Bookalicious, you can CLICK HERE. Don’t forget to like, share and follow for more posts. Have you read Six of Crows? Be sure to leave some of your non-spoiler thoughts below!

Happy Reading,
Alaina ❤
