Top 5 Wednesday: Books Featuring Paranormal Creatures

TOP 5

Hey everyone and welcome back for another Top 5 Wednesday! This week’s topic is “Books featuring your choice of paranormal creatures,” but knowing me, I can’t just choose one. I mean, there are so many different paranormal creatures. And if you didn’t already know, paranormal is definitely my favorite genre. I read so many paranormal books and it is actually really rare for me to not enjoy one. So, today I am going to be listing some of my favorite books that feature some of my favorite paranormal creatures. Hope you enjoy!

  1. City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
I swear, if there is any series that is FILLED with paranormal creatures, it’s this one. First off, we have Shadowhunters, humans who were born with angel blood. With the angel blood running through their veins, they are able to handle weapons that are able to fight off demons. We also have both vampires and werewolves in this series. although they are enemies, we get to see their ways of life and their point of view of the world. Next we also have fae in this novel, more commonly known as seelies. I wouldn’t say that they are really MAIN characters in this series, but they do play a big role by the end. Who else do we have? Oh boy, I am totally blanking but there are angels, demons, vampires, werewolves and more. Totally awesome!

  2. Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
You may be thinking, “Alaina, what the heck are you talking about?” But these books DEFINITELY have some paranormal characters. First of all, we have fae. The fae aren’t actually REALLY involved in this series until the ending of Crown of Midnight, but they are literally what makes this series so good! I feel like this series is a hit or miss for most people. I didn’t actually like the first book, found the second to be a little bit better, but I absolutely loved Heir of Fire. I think that once Sarah J. Maas brought in the fae, it became better. She is literally known as a fae writer.

  3. Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Okay, well the title of this one might be a *little* self explanatory. But we are totally talking about vampires here. Vampire Academy was one of those books, alike Throne of Glass, that I didn’t like at first. Luckily for me, I made myself reread the first book, and I was able to enjoy it.  I am so happy that I was able to enjoy it because this is one of my favorite vampire series ever. Literally, if you are a fan of the Vampire Diaries + violence, you will absolutely love this series. I have yet to read the final 2 books in this series, but I cannot wait to get my hands on them.

  4. Sweet Evil (Sweet, #1)Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
This right here is classic paranormal. When most people think about paranormal, their mind wanders to creatures like vampires and werewolves. But when I think about paranormal, I start thinking about angels and demons. Come on, it’s the classic pairing. But, I’ve noticed that a lot of people haven’t read/heard of Sweet Evil. Well, it’s an amazing book with amazing characters and amazing romance. That sums it up pretty well. But if you are on the hunt for a SUPER good paranormal read, THIS IS THE ONE.

  5. White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1)The Dark Elements by Jennifer L. Armentrout
DID YOU EXPECT THIS LIST NOT TO INCLUDE A JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT BOOK? I was thinking about doing the Lux series for this, but most would say that it isn’t paranormal since it includes aliens. But really, it is totally a paranormal. So, I decided to go the safer route and talk about The Dark Elements. I don’t really know if gargoyles (wardens) count as being “paranormal,” but demons definitely do. And we definitely have a hot demon in this one. If you are a fan of hot guys with abs, demons, and rock music, this is the one for you! I’m actually going to be starting the final book later this week.

And that is it for today! I hope you all enjoyed my picks for this week’s Top 5 Wednesday. Do you do Top 5 Wednesday? Definitely leave your post’s link in the comments and I will definitely check it out! Don’t forget to like and follow to stay up to date with all of my future posts.

Happy Reading,
Alaina

  1. I don’t know how a lot of people haven’t heard about Sweet Evil since that book was pretty popular back then! 😀 the shadowhunter world is definitely filled with paranormal creatures, after all, it’s all about a bunch of half-angels killing all the other paranormal creatures!

    1. I know! The series used to be super popular, and now its as if half of the book community hasn’t even heard of it. But they are such good books and I hope that everyone ends up reading them. Also, definitely the Shadowhunter books!
