Hey everyone! August, has come to an end, and that means that it is time for another wrap-up. I had a pretty good reading month, and was able to squeeze in 6 books! Not too bad in my opinion. But now, we’re headed into September, which means that I get to start to dread school AGAIN. Honestly, I am still on team “start school later,” because I absolutely hate waking up at 6 am everyday. It’s too much work. But, today I am going to be sharing everything that I read in August. Let’s get started!
- Oblivion by Jennifer L. Armentrout:
As most of you may already know, I do an annual re-read of the Lux series every year. I love the series so much, and I love to be re-introduced to the characters. But, this year I ended up reading them out of order… which really sucks. But, each book is still enjoyable to read on their own. Fortunately, I was able to squeeze in a re-read of Oblivion in August, and it was wonderful to say hello to Daemon Black again! This book had been sitting on my shelf for too long. I got it over a year ago since it was over 70% off. How could you go wrong with a sale as huge as that! So I bought it,, and it had been sitting on my shelf ever since. But, I finally got around to picking it up in August, and I ended up really enjoying it. It’s one of those adult books that are perfect for YA fantasy lovers. Check out my review HERE! - Room by Emma Donoghue:
I absolutely adored this book. I don’t grab adult books too often, but this one left me speechless. It was such a gorgeous tale that is definitely worth reading. And it is written from THE CUTEST 5 year old ever. He is so oblivious to the outside world. I flew through this book and enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn’t cry easily. Because you totally will. Check out my review HERE! - The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon:
This book was fantastic, in my opinion. But, I have found a lot of bad reviews of the book in the past, so I didn’t have too high of hopes for it. But, it was such an amazing book and I ended up really enjoying it. I found it a lot like A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (I really don’t know why….), so if you read it, you can definitely let me know if you thought of it that way. I would also really recommend this one! I actually ended up re-reading this book for Bookalicious. I audiobooked a huge amount of the book when I first read it, and ended up missing a lot of the characters’ history. So, I finally gave it my re-read this past month, and it was such a great decision! I ended up really enjoying it. And come on, how could you not ship Kaz and Inej/Nina and Matthias together. This was definitely my least favorite book of the month. I mean, it wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t my ideal read for the time. But, if you are ever in the mood for some vampires, I would definitely recommend picking up this book. The first 2/3rds of the book were pretty slow for me, but it picked up and I ended up really loving the last 3rd! Check out my review HERE!
And that is it for my August wrap-up. I hope you enjoyed this post! If so, be sure to give it a like, and comment down below what you read last month. Don’t forget to also give my blog a follow if you would like to stay up to date with all of my future posts.
Happy Reading,
