A – Z Bookish Survey!

Hey Book Nerds! I’ve been seeing so many people do this tag over the past few months. Although they were all older posts, I thought that this would be a super fun tag! It features a question for each letter of the alphabet, which means that I have 26 awesome questions today!

I originally saw Caitlin at The YA Bookworm Blogger do this tag but it was created by Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner. Be sure to check out both of their answers! Now, let’s get straight into this tag!

A: Author you’ve read the most books from…
Definitely Cassandra Clare! She is one of my auto-buy authors and I have read 11 of her books. I still have quite a few more to read, but I definitely plan on getting to that soon! Jennifer L. Armentrout and Sarah J. Maas are both close seconds.

B: Best Sequel Ever…
Probably A Court of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I would agree with most readers that this book was actually better than the first, even though I really enjoyed it. But, I couldn’t pass up my love for Rhysand, The Night Court, and Velaris!

C: Currently Reading…
I am currently reading Rebel Angels by Libba Bray. It is the sequel to A Great and Terrible Beauty, a Victorian/Gothic YA novel that features elements, realms and secret societies!

D: Drink of choice while reading…
Always something hot, even in the hottest temperatures. I usually go for a cup of coffee. But, I also really love tea, especially chai and cinnamon flavored ones.

E: E-reader or physical books…
Definitely physical. I just love the feeling of holding a book and flipping through the pages. I think that E-books are great, but they just aren’t for me.

F: Fictional character you probably would have dated in high school…
We all know that I love Daemon Black but, I don’t think I would actually go for a guy like him in real life. I think I would be more likely to date someone like Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments. He’s nerdy, is in a band and can keep good friendships. Sounds good to me!

G: Glad you gave this book a chance…
Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I didn’t really know what to expect from a fairy tale re-telling (this was my first). But, I ended up really liking it. I thought it was going to be filled with princesses and glass slippers, but it ended up being a futuristic sci-fi novel with cyborgs!

H: Hidden gem book…
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout is such a gem! You don’t really expect to enjoy a book with a cover like this book’s. But trust me, this is one of the best YA books ever! I don’t reach for alien books often, but Jennifer L. Armentrout worked some wonders with this one. Book bloggers + sparkling aliens of light + Daemon Black = ❤

I: Important moment in your reading life…
Creating my blog! I was actually inspired to start blogging by Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The main character, Katy, runs a blog where she reads and reviews books. I really wanted to talk about books with people around the world, so I made one of my own! Luckily, it has been one of the best things I have ever done!

J: Just finished…
I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray a few days ago. It was an amazing historical fiction novel that takes place in the Gothic Victorian era. I highly recommend you try this book if you are wanting to get into historical fiction.

K: Kinds of books you won’t read…
I’m really up to giving anything a shot. But, I am not a huge fan of erotica, non-fiction, biographies, and dystopians.

L: Longest book you’ve read…
According to my Goodreads, the longest book I have read is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The mass market paperback edition has 850 pages! No wonder this book took me over 3 months to read

M: Major book hangover because of…
I’ll be totally honest, I’ve never been in a book hangover. Of course, I have fallen into book slumps after some books but, it has never been a book hangover. Lucky me!

N: Number of bookcases you own…
Only one! I was fortunate enough to receive it for my birthday last year. And since then, it has been full. I can’t even put books in rows anymore, a lot of the shelves are holding stacks. But, I’m really happy I have it because I don’t know where else I would put all of my books.

O: One book you have read multiple times…
I am always rereading my favorite books! My most read book is definitely Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m pretty sure that I’ve read it 4 times. I’ve also re-read the rest of the Lux series in the past.

P: Preferred place to read…
Definitely my bed. Most of the time, that is where I read. But in the future, I dream of owning a super comfy chair to put near my bookshelves. Something that would be as comfortable as my bed!

Q: Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read…
“Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.” from Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

R: Reading regret…
I really regret not growing up with books. I never got to read Harry Potter, Percy Jackson or any of those popular series when I was younger. And to be honest, I still haven’t read them. I didn’t get into reading until I was 12, which means that I missed out on childhood reading.

S: Series you started and need to finish (all books are out)…
The Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. I am a paranormal lover so I couldn’t help but pick up the first two books earlier this year. But, I haven’t picked up the rest of the series yet.

T: Three of your all-time favorite books…
I think everyone already knows this but, Obsidian is my #1 favorite book! The rest of my list is always changing but currently, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare is in second place and Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins is taking third!

U: Unapologetic fangirl for…
Jennifer L. Armentrout. Her books give me all of the feels! I have only read the Lux series, The Dark Elements (the first two), and The Problem With Forever. But, I am so excited to dive into some of her other books in the future! If anyone knows me well enough, they will know how much I fangirl over her Lux series.

V: Very excited for this book release more than all the others…
If There’s No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It isn’t often that I plan to buy a book on release day, but I am definitely running into the bookstore on September 5th for this one! I remember loving The Problem With Forever and I think that this book will be a lot like that. And even, how can you possibly pass up a Jennifer L. Armentrout novel?

W: Worst bookish habit…
For the past few months, I have been dog-earring my pages. It’s so embarrassing. But, I have plans to start using bookmarks again!

X: X marks the spot – start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book…
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. Not my favorite from the series, but still an amazing novel!

Y: Your latest book purchase…
I think my latest book purchase was Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. I have been wanting to buy this book for the longest time and when it went on sale for $6.00, I couldn’t resist! It was such a fun and easy read.

Z: ZZZ – snatcher (a book that kept you up WAY late)…
I know that I’ve mentioned Jennifer L. Armentrout way to many times (super fangirl right here!), but The Problem With Forever kept me up super late. If anyone has read it and remembers what happened around page 370, that’s why. I was a mess of tears at 2 am.

And, that is all for today! I tag anyone who has made it all the way down here to do this tag! It’s a  lot of questions but, it is a lot of fun! Don’t forget to like, comment, share and follow to keep up to date with all of my new posts!

Happy Reading,

Alaina ❤
