Hey Book Nerds, and welcome back for another Top 5 Wednesday! This week’s topic is children’s books. Although I haven’t read series like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, I have read my share of middle grade books that I am excited to share with all of you.
For those of you that don’t know, I wasn’t actually a reader when I was younger. I used to do lots of art, but I hardly ever picked up books. We used to go to the library once a week at my elementary school and it was odd to see me check out a book. But ever since I was 12 I have been reading non-stop!
So today, I am here to share my top 5 children’s books! If you also do Top 5 Wednesday, be sure to comment the link to your post below!
Also, Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by Samantha and Lainey at the Goodreads group of the same name! If you are interested in checking it out, CLICK HERE! ow, let’s get straight into this posts!
JUNIE B. JONES BY BARBARA PARK:
Nope, I wasn’t reading Harry Potter when I was seven, I was binge reading these! They were such fun and realistic books for young children. I remember starting to read chapter books in grade one and then picking up a bunch of these before grade six. Junie B. was one of the few characters that I found a lot of similarities in. She can be quite the klutz, but is also a shy kid. One of my best memories with these books was making a fort in my living room for some peace and quiet. I know, how childish. But I was a young seven year old back then who was living the dream!
MAGIC TREE HOUSE BY MARY POPE OSBORNE:
If there is any series that wins the top spot on my list for most read books in a series, it’s this! There are over 50 books in this series and I don’t think I even got through half of them! But, these were my “adventures around the world and through time” when I was younger. I always wanted to get the huge boxset of these from the scholastic flyers but, I was a very poor girl back then. So, most weeks I would take one of these out from the library. The best part of these books is the fact that there really isn’t a standard reading order. You get to pick and choose what adventure you want to go on!
EMMA ON THIN ICING BY COCO SIMON:
Well, I am just noticing now that this is the third book in the cupcake diaries instead of the first. WHOOPS! But this one was really good. Though, any book that has food in it is deemed to interest me! And, this one ended up having a very interesting food choice in it: bacon cupcakes. I mean, I love bacon (if it isn’t overly crispy) and I love cupcakes so what could be so bad about it?! From what I remember, I think there was also dog walking in this novel! And, I love dogs so this book was perfect for me. This book actually ended up being one of my favorite books when I was about ten!
RAINBOW MAGIC BY DAISY MEADOWS:
Omg, these were my everything for about a year when I was younger! I absolutely loved the concept of fairies in books, and if you couldn’t tell, I still do! I have read so many books with fae, faeries, seelies, etc. And, I think these books kick-started my love for them! I remember that everytime I wanted one of these, my library never had them. But, one of my best friends bought me a bindup of the first four books in this series and I was over the moon! These book were fast, and easy reads for me and I can’t help but suggest them for anybody who loves a girly read!
GERONIMO STILTON BY GERONIMO STILTON:
Okay, I will admit that I mostly only liked these books for the pictures but, they were also pretty addicting! I was always very confused as to who wrote these books but, I think it is Geronimo writing his own adventures. Anyways, these books were covered in fun pictures and I’m pretty sure that the writing was a mix of text and emoticons. I also really enjoyed the sister series, Thea Stilton! If you ever need a book that isn’t totally a chapter book, go with something like this! Perfect to read while babysitting!
THAT’S IT FOR TODAY! I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my favorite children’s books! I know, it’s quite the list! But, don’t forget to like, comment and follow for more posts!
Happy Reading!
