Hey Book Nerds! Can any of you believe that it is already Friday?! I am so ready to just sit back, relax and READ! I wrapped up my Freshman school year with my Math final today and I cannot explain how happy I am now! It is almost as if someone took a 5 pound weight off of me.
Anyways, I was tagged by Angelica @ The Book Cover Girls to do this lovely tag! I have been looking at doing it for a while and was so excited when I saw that Angelica had already tagged me! If you haven’t checked out her beautiful blog, you should definitely click on the link above! She updates so often that you will never run out of new posts to read!
Are you ready to play tag? Well, I am tagging every book blogger that sees this post. I feel like this is a perfect “get to know me better” for us book lovers! Let’s get straight into this!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING?
I have been blogging for an insanely long time. I originally made my blog in October 2015, but I really didn’t know the ups and downs of blogging. I was just a young, thirteen year old who thought it would be cool to write reviews and share my thoughts on YA books. I really had no clue what I was doing. But, within the last year, I have really started getting into blogging. I have a goal to post every day – every two days and I have been proudly sticking to it!
AT WHAT POINT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL STOP BLOGGING?
I don’t have any plans of stopping my blog in the future. I may go on a few hiatuses when need be, but I don’t want to EVER stop blogging. Every day, I wake up wanting to share new opinions with my followers. Although some days I have a feeling that I have absolutely nothing to write about, I find something! During the school year, I am never as active as I am in the summer. But, once University rolls around, I might slowly become even more inactive. But, I promise I will never give up at blogging, even if I end up only posting once a month in the future. It is something I love doing and could never let it go!
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
Definitely the fact that I get to communicate about something that I love with people around the world! That sounds pretty insane, right? But I post new content daily and I have people from countries EVERY WHERE that view it! I have people in Colombia, Norway, Portugal and the Philippines that have seen my blog! I’m in Canada, which means that people that are thousands of miles away are viewing my blog. INSANE. But all in all, I absolutely love talking about books with people. I don’t know many people where I live that like reading, so being able to talk about it with people over the internet is the next best thing!
WHAT IS THE WORST THING? WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE IT OKAY?
Definitely managing my time! Sometimes it is really hard to find time to blog after doing a bunch of math homework, or getting so into a book that you don’t want to stop reading. Let’s be honest, it happens to us book bloggers on a daily basis. But, if you are determined to keep on track with posting, you will be able to finish your homework fast enough, or put the book down. If anything, I am constantly trying to fit in time to write up some posts… especially when I am reading an amazing book!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO MAKE/FIND PICTURES TO USE?
Honestly, not long. I go the easy route and find all of my pictures on the web. I am so jealous of all of the amazing bloggers who take time to take pictures and edit them for their posts. I am waaaaayy too lazy. I usually get the book covers from each book’s Goodreads profile and I always try to find a little banner for tags. The “Top 5 Wednesday” posts I do always feature the groups logo, which is found on their Goodreads group page.
WHO IS YOUR BOOK CRUSH?
Hmm… I have a long list. Daemon Black from the Lux series has had my #1 spot for the last two years. I don’t think anyone is going to kick him out of that spot. I also really love Rowan Whitethorn from the Throne of Glass series. He’s a babe! Julian Blackthorn has been slowly easing his way into my third spot, recently. He is just so loving and caring that I can’t help but have him on my list! I also really love Kaidan Rowe, Jace Herondale, Will Herondale and Kaz Brekker!
WHAT AUTHOR WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ON YOUR BLOG?
There are so many that I would want to meet and have a book signed from, but I can easily narrow it down to one author that I would really want to interview for my blog. Obviously, I would have to choose Jennifer L. Armentrout! She has been such an inspiration to me over the past few years and I would be honored to have her on my blog. Is it enough to prove it with the fact that Obsidian is featured in almost all of my posts? But, I have a plethora of questions that I would love to ask her. Other authors that I would love to feature on my blog are Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare and Morgan Matson!
WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU WRITE A BLOG POST?
Well, it really depends on the season. For the most part, I write my posts after school. And, I am a lazy person who enjoys changing into pajama shorts and a sweatshirt the moment I walk through my front door! If there’s anything that I am always wearing while blogging, it is a hoodie. In the summer, I usually wear a pair of athletic shorts and in the winter, I usually go for the sweats. I like to be comfy when I blog and you would never catch me in a pair of jeans as I write up a blog post.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO PREPARE?
Depends on what type of post. Before I start typing, I always brainstorm some ideas for my posts. If I am doing a review, it usually takes me about an hour to type up my thoughts. Usually a little bit longer if I have A LOT of thoughts. But, I tend to type up my reviews write after I finish each book, so all of my thoughts are fresh in my head. Teaser Tuesdays take me between fifteen and thirty minutes. They really are the most simple thing to post. Both “Top 5 Wednesday” and tags can take anywhere between two hours and a whole day to write up. It all depends on how busy I am, how easy the questions are and how much I procrastinate writing it. Lol.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE BOOK BLOGGING COMMUNITY?
I absolutely love it. I could not have wanted to be a part of a better community. Every one is so kind and welcoming. The book blogging community truly is a place of friendship, opinions and love. We love books, we love blogging and sometimes we love other things. But, it s so easy to make friends around the world with other book bloggers. Everyone is super inclusive and happy. But what I love most is that no body is scared to share both their opinions and feelings!
WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE SHOULD DO TO GET A SUCCESSFUL BLOG?
Simply be yourself and post frequently. When I first started my blog, I didn’t do either of these things when I first started my blog. Being yourself is key to people liking your blog. Nobody wants to read a post that doesn’t express who you are. Explain all of your thoughts in a review or posts more than just bookish related posts. Talk about fashion, makeup, coffee, or even your adventures on your blog. Just because it is called a book blog doesn’t mean you are subject to post only about books! I also suggest posting frequently. Once a month definitely isn’t enough for success. Usually once a week will do the trick but I can highly recommend posting a few times a week. I know it sounds like a lot, but it works!
THAT’S IT FOR TODAY! I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Don’t forget to like, comment and follow to keep up to date with all of my new posts!
Happy Reading!
~Alaina
Great answers for these! And thanks for saying such nice things about my blog! I totally agree about Daemon Black! He’s the absolute best, and I cannot believe I forgot about him and din’t mention him for that question. I feel like I have to do a reread of the Lux series or something, it’s been a while. I’ve also been meaning to read her Covenant series. Have you read it? Also, I totally agree about posting often. I try to post every day, but then I will randomly have a week in which I post nothing at all.
Also, in the beginning did you mean 2015 instead of 2017? It took me a second, like wait, it’s not october yet lol

Your so welcome! Daemon Black is amazing! Sadly, I have not read the covenant series yet because they don’t sell it in stores. I’m hoping to buy it online soon! I too have weird posting schedules some weeks. It just happens haha.
Also, yes I just fixed the date. I was rushing to get this post up and I was in a very uncomfortable position writing it. But October 2017 is my blogstaversery!
