Hey Book Nerds, and welcome back for a new teaser! I feel like you have all got so used to me posting these so late due to school. HAHA! But, I don’t have school this week! It is exam week and my last exam is on Friday. So, with that said, I am finally able to start posting these teasers earlier in the day! Well, at least early for Canada/US time. Anyways, I have an amazing book for this weeks teaser, so let’s get straight into it!
‘As they drove, Kit was silent, looking out the window. The freeway was nearly empty, and stretched ahead of them, gray and deserted. Signs for Crenshaw and Fairfax flashed by. This wasn’t the beautiful Los Angeles of mountains and beaches, green lawns and mansions. This was the L.A. of cracked pavement and struggling trees and skies leaden with smog.’

It was extremely difficult to find an excerpt from this novel that wasn’t filled with spoilers. Being the sequel to Lady Midnight, every page, paragraph and sentence in this book features some sort of spoiler. But you know, it is pretty darn amazing so far!
I was actually planning to start this book the moment I got home after my math exam on the 23rd. But, I have had this books in my hands since release day and COULD NOT last a minute longer without reading this book! It has been staring at me, unread, for the past month! I am super surprised that I lasted this long without reading it. But now that I am back in the world of Shadowhunters, I could hardly stop reading it!
I have been absolutely loving all of the characters throughout the first 60 pages. Of course I was expecting to read about the Blackthorns, Emma and the Rosales. But I definitely was not expecting so much Jace and Clary. Can’t say that I’m not loving it because it is a total throwback to The Mortal Instruments!
If you have read Lady Midnight and are interested in reading Lord of Shadows, here’s the synopsis:
Would you trade your soul mate for your soul?
A Shadowhunter’s life is bound by duty. Constrained by honor. The word of a Shadowhunter is a solemn pledge, and no vow is more sacred than the vow that binds parabatai, warrior partners—sworn to fight together, die together, but never to fall in love.
Emma Carstairs has learned that the love she shares with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, isn’t just forbidden—it could destroy them both. She knows she should run from Julian. But how can she when the Blackthorns are threatened by enemies on all sides?
Their only hope is the Black Volume of the Dead, a spell book of terrible power. Everyone wants it. Only the Blackthorns can find it. Spurred on by a dark bargain with the Seelie Queen, Emma; her best friend, Cristina; and Mark and Julian Blackthorn journey into the Courts of Faerie, where glittering revels hide bloody danger and no promise can be trusted. Meanwhile, rising tension between Shadowhunters and Downworlders has produced the Cohort, an extremist group of Shadowhunters dedicated to registering Downworlders and “unsuitable” Nephilim. They’ll do anything in their power to expose Julian’s secrets and take the Los Angeles Institute for their own.
When Downworlders turn against the Clave, a new threat rises in the form of the Lord of Shadows—the Unseelie King, who sends his greatest warriors to slaughter those with Blackthorn blood and seize the Black Volume. As dangers close in, Julian devises a risky scheme that depends on the cooperation of an unpredictable enemy. But success may come with a price he and Emma cannot even imagine, one that will bring with it a reckoning of blood that could have repercussions for everyone and everything they hold dear.
THAT’S IT FOR TODAY! I hope you enjoyed this week’s teaser! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow for more posts!
