WHAT IF FOLLOWING HER HEART MEANS ROSE COULD LOSE HER BEST FRIEND FOREVER?
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires – the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.
Rose knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend, Lissa – the last Dragomir princess – must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken…
Then a strange darkness begins to grow in Rose’s mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy’s iron gates. The immortal undead are closing in, and they want vengeance for the lives Rose has stolen. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most… but will her choice mean that only one can survive?
MY THOUGHTS:
This review probably would’ve been up a week ago, but I got so far into Blood Promise that I actually forgot what happened in Shadow Kiss. It’s not often that this happens to me but, with a bit of help from reading review and flipping through the pages, some of the book came back to me!
I actually found that this book was a filler novel, even though it was fantastic. It was very similar to the events of the other books: Blah, Blah, Blah, oooh big killing! But I swear, these books have incredible, tear-worthy endings! And even, the blah, blah, blah parts of the novel are usually really, REALLY humorous. I guess that’s what happens when the main character is a sarcastic ball of sunshine.
The beginning of this novel was a bit more on the “depressed” side than I would have liked. I understand that characters like Rose, and Eddie went through a traumatic event, but I didn’t really want all of the happiness to come from Adrian Ivashkov. Like, no thanks you icky smoker, I would rather listen to Rose’s “happy” sarcastic comments.
One of the things that I really loved in this novel were the appearances of the ghosts. I thought it was so cool that since Rose had been to death and back, she could see death. At first, they were a bit of a disadvantage for her. But once she got control of them, they were like war partners for her!
It was super cool to see a field experience in action, even though Rose probably failed it. I would agree with most that my jaw completely dropped when I read about Eddie getting Lissa and not Rose. It was totally mind-boggling. But I swear, Rose was probably the best at the field experience, even though Stan and Alberta probably would disagree with me. 1. she freaking saw ghost. GHOSTS. How the heck was she supposed to pay attention to a guardian attacking when she was seeing ghosts? And then they took her to the doctor on campus and they thought the had PTSD. Like, GO ROSE FOR STANDING UP FOR YOURSELF!! And 2. she had fought Strigoi in the past. If any novice shouldn’t have had to go through the field experience, it was Rose.
The ending of this novel was overly intense and I can’t help but say that I loved it! Strigoi fights are seriously the best part about these novels. And I was so happy that they let Rose get involved in this fight. She deserved it! But there definitely was one thing that I hated and I bet everyone else that has read the book would also know it. DIMITRI. Well not totally that. DIMITRI A STRIGOI?!?! Ugh, well at least Blood Promise will not have a “blah, blah, blah” storyline!
I ended up giving this book 5 stars! It was a pretty exciting read and I ended up finishing it in less that 4 days during a school week! It definitely made life sooo much better that week! If you have read and finished Frostbite and are iffy on buying the next book, DO IT! It is so worth it and you will not regret it!
THAT’S IT FOR TODAY! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow for more posts!
Happy Reading!
