Hey Book Lovers! I know, this post is 7 days late. I know I suck at getting these posts up on time. But look back at that title again, it’s finally here. *sigh* anyone remember the days where I was always on time with posting these? Well, soon it will happen again, soon. But anyways, here it is!!

  • Total number of books read in March: 5 (plus a bunch of novellas within one of those books)
  • Total number of books hauled: 2!
  • Total number of books on April’s TBR: 4 (probably will read more)

MARCH’S WRAP-UP:

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

I am so sorry to my heart for reading this novel. Very deeply sorry. For those who haven’t read a Cassandra Clare novel, most of her novels are super fun to read, but both City of Heavenly Fire and Clockwork Princess will shatter your heart. I loved this book so much! 5/5 stars!

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)THE INFERNAL DEVICES WILL NEVER STOP COMING

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.

Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.

As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment, and the tangled threads of love and loss intertwine as the Shadowhunters are pushed to the very brink of destruction in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy

Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When am I not in the mood for a fun JLA book? EVERYDAY. I love her books so much and this one definitely didn’t shy away from the amazing-ness of the rest of her books. I absolutely adore Layla’s character and am in total awe for Roth. I cannot wait to get the final book and see if Layla betrays Stony. 4/5 stars!

Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements, #2)Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I was a bit nervous to get into this book at first. It was the same nervousness that I felt when I picked up my first Sarah J. Maas book. A new fantasy author’s writing always gives me a bit of trouble at first but this one was stellar! I absolutely adored all of the characters’ personalities and the whole plot of the novel. Unfortunately I audio booked a chunk of this novel and lost a lot of major information due to that. 4 stars!

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:

Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)

Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)

Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)

Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

After reading Hush, Hush earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book! Fortunately, I was able to snatch myself a copy at a used book sale! This book was very different from the first book (and of course I was missing Patch like crazy!) but it was still pretty good! I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the rest of Becca’s books! 4 stars!

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2)Nora Grey’s life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn’t pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it. A mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He’s more elusive than ever (if that’s possible) and what’s worse, he seems to be spending time with Nora’s archenemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn’t been acting so distant. Even with Scott’s totally infuriating attitude, Nora finds herself drawn to him – despite her lingering feelings that he is hiding something.

If that weren’t enough, Nora is haunted by images of her murdered father, and comes to question whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate to figure out what happened, she puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations to get the answer. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything – and everyone – she trusts.

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

Okay, I really wasn’t planning on reading this book for a while but, after seeing my Reading Challenge slip behind schedule, I decided to read this! All of the novellas were amazing, but my favorite has to be The Assassin And The Empire! It was so heartbreaking but also so phenomenal! 5 stars!

The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5)Celaena Sardothien is Adarlan’s most feared assassin. As part of the Assassin’s Guild, her allegiance is to her master, Arobynn Hamel, yet Celaena listens to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. In these action-packed novellas – together in one edition for the first time – Celaena embarks on five daring missions. They take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, where she fights to liberate slaves and seeks to avenge the tyrannous. But she is acting against Arobynn’s orders and could suffer an unimaginable punishment for such treachery. Will Celaena ever be truly free? Explore the dark underworld of this kick-ass heroine to find out.

MARCH’S HAUL:

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I have waited FOREVER for this book! It’s so expensive (along with every other Cassie Clare novel) in Canada but I couldn’t help finally buying it! I had thought a long time about which book I wanted to bring on vacation with me and I ended up picking this one. Definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1)In a kingdom by the sea…

In a secret world where half-angel warriors are sworn to fight demons, parabatai is a sacred word.

A parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other—but they can never fall in love.

Emma Carstairs is a warrior, a Shadowhunter, and the best in her generation. She lives for battle. Shoulder to shoulder with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of Los Angeles, where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries—the most powerful of supernatural creatures—teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries turn up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were when she was a child, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge—and Julian’s chance to get back his brother Mark, who is being held prisoner by the faerie Courts. All Emma, Mark, and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks…and before the murderer targets them.

Their search takes Emma from sea caves full of sorcery to a dark lottery where death is dispensed. And each clue she unravels uncovers more secrets. What has Julian been hiding from her all these years? Why does Shadowhunter Law forbid parabatai to fall in love? Who really killed her parents—and can she bear to know the truth?

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Originally I was only expecting to buy Lady Midnight this month. But I ended up going to the bookstore AGAIN to help my mom buy a book and I found this. On sale. AUTOGRAPHED. Thanks mom for buying this for me!

The Unexpected EverythingAndie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future. Important internship? Check. Amazing friends? Check. Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life. Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?

APRIL’S TBR:

Paper Towns by John Green

This is actually my current read and I am loving it! It’s always different to jump from my usual fantasy novel to a contemporary. But this one is definitely already a fun adventure! And when I finish it, I am definitely going to watch the movie. What could go wrong in a movie starring Cara Delevinge?

Paper TownsWho is the real Margo?

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows. After their all-nighter ends, and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues—and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees the girl he thought he knew…

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Whoops! It’s another TBR post where I’ve already finished a book on my TBR. Haha. But this book couldn’t wait to be read! It was so amazing and has definitely become my favorite Shadowhunter novel! I adored Emma and Julian in COHF and couldn’t help but love them even more in this one! 5 stars!

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I haven’t read a Marissa Meyer book in over a year! But I absolutely cannot wait to continue the Lunar Chronicles! I loved the first book a lot and can only hope for great things from Scarlet!

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2)Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Holy goodness! I bought this book almost a year ago! Ugh, the struggles of new releases. But I think I am finally in the mood to dive into Laia and Elias’s story! I don’t have the highest expectations for this novel, but I’m really hoping that it will be good!

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

THAT’S IT!! These posts are always super long but I hope some of you made it all the way through! Thank you for viewing my blog and I hope you all enjoyed! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow for more posts!

Happy Reading!

  1. Have fun with the Lunar Chronicles because it’s such a fun series and Scarlet is second favorite book next to Winter. I personally just picked up City of Bones because I want to get into the series since I’ve never read anything my Cassandra Clare and I’m so excited! Paper Towns is such a throw back but no matter how over hyped it is I still love it.
