Guess what everyone?! This is my 100th post! I never dreamed of making it this far with my blog but I guess sometimes, the things in life that are the most unrealistic are the ones that unexpectedly smack you in the face. I also recently hit 1,000 views on my blog and I’m still in so much shock from it. I am so gracious and thankful that so many of you have decided to view my blog (and hopefully enjoy it)!
In honor of my 100th post, I decided to do a review. Just a laid-back, old school review. In the beginning, I made my blog to review and share my love fore reading. And yes, it has gone far enough for me to post tags, segments and cover reveals. But, I feel like there doesn’t have to be anything special posted for this event; just the same old, same old. So I hope you enjoy this review of one of my favorite books I read a few months ago…..

My Thoughts:
This book was way better than I expected! I read The Lux series, also by Jennifer, in the past years and absolutely adored it. But, I always wondered if her other series could sum up to it. And that question was one of THE MOST rhetorical questions I’d ever made. Jennifer, being one of my favorite authors, definitely didn’t disappoint with this book. Although it was very different from her other series, she definitely didn’t change her trademark characters: sexy, swoon worthy, males.
For anyone who has already read the Lux series, definitely try this book next by her! It still has the hot, you-shouldn’t-date-him vibe but with demons instead of aliens. I don’t know how she does it, but Jennifer makes any kind of extra-terrestrial or mythological creature super hot.
Basically, this book followed Layla, a half warden/half demon, as she meets Roth and has her life turned upside down. She’s lived a lot of her life with the Wardens and has become super close with Zayne, who plays a very over-protective brotherly figure in her life. Although, Zayne has become a bit more of a brother in her life, she couldn’t help but form a crush on him.
But, when Roth pushes his way into Layla’s life, it’s obvious that he wants her to have nothing to do with the wardens. That’s basically all I want to say about the book since I don’t want to spoil any of it for some of you.
I really love the differences between the “races” in the novel. We have Wardens who are basically stone gargoyles, Demons who are….. I don’t think I need to explain them, and humans. 3 different types of “creatures” living in one town is sort of insane.
One of my favorite parts of this novel was Roth’s tattoo. It was really amazing how Jennifer’s imagination traveled all the way to a living tattoo: a snake who’s name is Bambi! It’s such a fragile name for such a vicious creature which I really loved!
