Hello everybody! It’s finally spring break which means that i have a lot of free time to read, blog and write. So here I am, sitting at my dining room table, writing up this review since I literally just finished this book. The Raven Boys was an eyeful of confusing plot twists and cliffhangers. That may be the reason why it took me the span of three months to read. But, it was still such an amazing book. Maggie Stiefvater is a writer who knows what she’s doing. Her eccentric characters pull you into her books. Her interesting plot lines will intrigue you. Every thing about her books will have you standing on your tippy toes. Maggie’s books might not be as legendary as the Throne of Glass series or The Mortal Instruments, but she is a legend. Her books are read by millions around and those millions are awaiting the final book in The Raven Cycle, The Raven King.
Now, to stop myself from ranting about how amazing Maggie’s novels are, here’s my review:
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
4.5/5 stars
This book was such an incredible start to The Raven Cycle. Though the beginning is quite confusing, don’t let it fool you. Blue Sargent was as eccentric in my mind as she was on the page. Gansey has now become my second favorite male character. Noah was just…. DEAD. Ronan was such a powerful character and Adam was maybe the bravest poor kid I have ever read about.
Let’s get straight into talking about that ending. Whelk had all of the death coming straight for him. And Neeve. Neeve was plain evil. She betrayed everyone. Maura. Calla. Persephone. Blue. Even Barrington Whelk. Like what was that plan of her’s anyways. trying to beat Gansey at waking the Ley line. I’m almost confident that Neeve is going to come back in either The Dream Thieves or Blue Lily, Lily Blue to ruin everythng.
Even though towards the end of the book, Blue and Gansey did connect more together, i was really hoping that something interesting would happen between them. Maybe like a date or someting. Though at least they spent the day together once searching through the forest. But that day ended up bad. I wish that they would’ve went on a date or something. Maybe that’ll happen in The Dream Thieves. I sure hope so!
