Summary:
After moving away from her hometown in Georgia, Nicole Cassidy has to start over. But the last thing she expects to learn is that she is a witch, along with the rest of her homeroom at Kinsley High. At first, she didn’t believe that any of it was real, but after learning more about their powers from Kate, her best friend, she welcomes herself into the world of witchcraft. Nicole quickly finds herself befriending fellow classmates Kate and Chris, but also finds herself with a bit of a crush on class hottie, Blake. Although Blake is off limits at the moment, it doesn’t stop Nicole from daydreaming about him.
She later finds out about Danielle, Blake’s girlfriend. She is quite the evil person but inside, she has a heart that is filled with kindness. Danielle, Blake and a few other witches practice using dark magic during their free time, which later enables Danielle to fend away any girls that are looking into a relationship with Blake. With the dark magic, Danielle is stronger than ever; strong enough to kill someone. But Nicole isn’t afraid of her.
After three thousand years, the Olympian comet finally shoots through the sky. Nicole’s homeroom teacher, Darius, invites all of his students to go to his house that night to view the comet. When there, they all get into groups of five. Nicole, Kate, Chris, Blake and Danielle link together to form a group but when the comet passes over, everything changes. They suddenly become linked together as a team and have to fight against monsters to not allow the Titans to enter our world.
Review:
This book was so energetic and never left me hanging. Michelle did such a good job of allowing us to follow along as Nicole entered a brand new world. I have to say, this book did not disappoint me.
If I could describe this book in one word, I would probably say that it was plainly incredible. At times, I felt incredulous as to what was happening. This book is one that you can never find a place to stop. There are so many cliffhangers at the end of chapters that your just left waiting for more.
I have to say, my favorite character would probably be Kate. She has such a bubbly personality that is so much like my own. Even though she was terrified during their treacherous adventure to reach their final destination, she was a trooper and came through.
This book is easily relatable to a bunch of books I’ve read. Even though I have yet to read the Percy Jackson books, Elementals has given me a brief expectation for the books which makes me really excited to read them. But aside from the Percy Jackson series, I can really relate this book to the LUX series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It isn’t really the premise of the novel that is relatable but more of the characters. I could easily place Nicole in Katy’s position, Blake in Daemon’s, Kate in Dee’s, Danielle in Ash’s and Chris in Adam’s. Just with a few exceptions.
